You Are In It, Not Of It

“For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?…”

Matthew 16:26

I visited my family back in New York for two weeks. And what a world of difference.

God is so intentional in the sight He grants us to see a familiar place through unfamiliar lenses, making what we see appear so unfamiliar.

I walked, talked, and dined with good friends I have known and grown to love over the years. But there was a change in me that only God and I knew.

From the conversations I shared with my own brother-in-law, to the conversation I overheard walking to and from the train stations, the chosen, the uninformed, the mislead, we were all bunched up in this place of strive and struggle trying to find a grip on what it is that purpose is supposed to be.

READ “ASK YOUR MAKER!”

We befriend, fall in love, make love, make babies, work, pay bills, and pray to live to do it all over again the next day, the next week, and maybe the next 20 years. This world really has a hold, a stronghold on so many souls.

If we all knew the royalty that God placed on us, in us, through the blood of His only Son, would we fight so hard to live a life that led to death? Would we strive so hard to earn what’s not ours to keep? Would we yearn and desire for titles that misplaced our real name as sons and daughters of the King?

I saw it first hand for the first time in a very long time, on the hardworking platforms of New York’s glorious subway, the tiredness, the restlessness, the battle to get to that job, that position that they created, that place that requires so much time, effort, and sleeplessness.

I wonder if we ever consider what God really has planned for us as His children.

Do we ever spend the day wondering if God intended on His children to move about, lost without direction? Or tired because of the never-ending, restless journey towards the same dead-end direction?

So many of my friends I see aiming for the next secure job, with all the benefits, as long as they dedicate all the necessary hours and time. Even closer loved ones…

I ask God, why?

Why cant’t ALL His children see that it all means nothing if there is no time to give Him the Maker the glory, honor, and worship?

I asked God why we are so caught up, tangled, and in bondage, over chasing money and things that CANNOT buy us our place in the kingdom!

Why are we living in this world, suffering through the ills of it, forgetting that there is a Mansion, a divine reservation with our name on it?

Why God?! Why can’t we all see that we are only in this world but not of it?!.

His will be done in Jesus name!

In this moment, this destined moment, I lift up a prayer for me, for you, that the Lord of Hosts, in His infinite perfection, redirect our goals, our lives, our minds, our hearts towards Him in Jesus name! May strongholds of this world be broken through the power of the Living God in Jesus name! May deliverance from temptation and destruction permeate through the wounds and souls of God’s children in the name of Jesus! May Purpose, meaning, and promise be reawakened in Jesus name! Amen.

Are You A Killer Of God’s Children? FINAL CHAPTER

tongue final

“The lip of truth shall be established for ever:but a lying tongue is but for a moment.”

Proverbs 12:19

The officer tells you that you have two options. You can either repent or await condemnation when Jesus, the head officer of God’s Law, returns.

You are wondering if the first option is real because you have forgotten that you serve a merciful God who looks down on us with mercy no matter how many people we have killed and condemned with our tongue alone. You’ve forgotten that the Holy Lamb was slain in your place, granting you the grace to repent.

Friend, God is not blind to the ills of society.

I mean the gossip blogs and magazines manipulate personal situations of famous people and kick the door open for the world to chime in with their tongue as a weapon. News sources we watch and read tell us many stories for ratings rather than the truth.

God is not blind. And it is by grace that you can see the sins all around you, and the ones on your own hands so you can repent and seek forgiveness.

The temptation to utter sin and partake in it, is indeed overwhelming. But Glory be to God for grace to conquer temptation. God’s word in Psalm 78 vs 36, reminds us that,

They set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walketh through the earth.”

The hype and hot stories are indeed but for a moment, but the sins we commit as part of a condemning society is written in the book of remembrance. We’ve got to repent.

Admittedly, I personally used to be one who proclaimed that celebrities pledged their lives to the public when they decided to be famous…May God forgive me for not knowing better.

When a person, famous or not does something that society frowns upon, what place do we have to condemn those that God did not condemn?

How does it honor God when we judge and analyze the behavior of others that we deem inappropriate?

That’s God’s job and He who still reigns did not hand us a gavel of judgement to condemn the fallen. He will shew mercy on whom He chooses.

We run to God a billion times seeking forgiveness and mercy for the wrongs we commit against others and ourselves. We ought to run to God interceding for all his children!

Never forget that mercy and grace saved me and you.

Friend, the spirit is compelling in the fight for the children of God.

All of God’s children will be defended against the enemy, as we are to pray for those who are blinded by the world and are yet to see the glory of God in the land of living.

The officer packs up his tools of justice but leaves you with the evidence of your crimes so you can decide. So what will you choose friend?

I pray to God the Father that in his infinite mercy and grace, your eyes are opened wider than they’ve ever been today for you to see the many sins at the tip of your tongue. May God Almighty wash you clean with the blood of the lamb who first washed away your sins at Calvary. May you be taught and guided by the Holy spirit to speak life and love as you walk the earth towards purpose in Jesus name. Amen.

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof”

Proverbs 18:21

The officer now asks you to imagine what would happen if Jesus came back today and asked you what you did with the life He died for?

Do you consider the dishonor it would do to the Holy One to hear you admit that you have been killing his children for a long time but only got caught a few times?

There is death and life in the power of the tongue. Friend, why not choose life?

Why not intercede a lie with God’s truth on behalf of others?

I mean imagine what seeds that alone could sow in your field of life. Imagine the blessings that would follow when God readily fulfills his promises to you because you adhere to his Word wholly and in truth.

You know, one of the most powerful social media platforms in the world right now is Facebook. Facebook is worth $1.5B dollars! Did you know that your attention to a platform is worth that much? Did you know that the flames you fan in terms of an opinion or support to a situation or idea via Facebook is worth a billion dollars?!

Can you imagine using that influence that we all have to perpetuate hate and evil, to rather encourage forgiveness, love, and righteousness?

I am not saying that standing on some public forum and proclaiming God’s love is the only way to go. Nevertheless, our little acts of forgiveness, encouragement, and interceding with prayer, are all ways that can stand in place with the Messiah’s truth and defend it to those who do not see, hear, and feel Him on the realm we do.

Let’s not forget that it wasn’t for grace…

Yes. It can be hard to be the voice of descent in a world that often appears to be going in one direction – chaos and indifference, for it often seems that a lack of humanity and compassion has become the norm.

But could it be that the enemy is only making it appear to be so?

Why not make the devil out to be a liar and stand by God’s truth no matter the opposition? God’s truth already won. What do you have to lose by defending that truth?! Friend, victory is already ours.

A now remorseful and wiser you, stares apologetically at the officer of Law as he proceeds to let you know the options you have for the crimes committed.

“Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.”

Psalm 34:13

The officer reminds you that you were at place X on day X with a few unnamed persons. He asks you if you recall. You nod in agreement that you do. He proceeds.

On this day, one of the persons whom you keep company with, is indeed known by most as a gossip. This person is the one who knows everyone’s secrets with and without their knowledge. There is no discretion code for this individual. And you have been okay with it, as long as your secrets are not the subject of discussion.

So on this day, this person shares some intimate details about victims B, C, and D. You never confirmed whether these statements were true or not. You simply assumed that the source of the story is reliable so you chose to believe it.

Later that day, you felt the need to share your opinions about the matter with another person, who then shared it with others.

The next day, victims B,C, and D were still a hot topic, so you did not hesitate to talk about what you heard with others.

Two weeks passed before you found out that several parts of the story you helped pass along about victims B,C, and D, were fabricated. Some parts were also half-truths.

But the damage was already done. Their characters and reputations had already been tarnished by lies, ones that you helped generate. Sure you did not start it. You did not start it when it happened to victim A either.

But you did not stop it, and you even gave life to the guile initiated by another. In this, you certainly helped fan the flame of the gossip and you bore false witness. Little did you know that the shame and condemnation that evoked from this matter weighed heavily on the hearts of the victims.

So here you were, a true believer, who would never say anything evil against anyone. You believed yourself to be a genuinely good person. But you did not know that your tongue could be so fatal. You did not know that the same lips you use to praise God in worship and prayer, was used to destroy his children.

You did not tame your tongue with the spirit. And now, you are in trouble for it.

If you had known how serious a few words added to a lie could be, and how much it could deter your own blessings, perhaps you would have kept your mouth closed. Perhaps you would have departed from the company of evil. Perhaps you would have prayed for the fallen rather than condemn their fall.

tongue 2

“Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our own: who is lord over us?”

Psalm 12:4

You close the door and 72 seconds of piercing silence passed by before the conversation begins again.

The officer continues his line of questioning, but this time, because you have been willing to discuss matters in private, his voice becomes less stern.

The officer reveals some things to you.

He begins by saying, that first this is not what you think it is in the common sense. He tells you that you have been set apart because you have been investigated thoroughly and the Lord sees that your heart seeks Him. But your ways remain polluted by what you used to know.

He further tells you that indeed, he is an officer of the Law, he emphasizes that it is the Law of God, not the law of the country.

As your conscience begin to unravel, you become more and more receptive to what the officer is saying.

He explains to you that you have been using your tongue as a weapon more than as a tool of praise and worship. What you don’t understand is that your tongue has been a deadly weapon with other tongues to kill a child of God. The officer helps you to recall a conversation you had naturally about victim A on so-and-so date at so-and-so location.

You remember now that although you did not initiate the conversation about victim A, you participated in condemning the victim in more ways than one. You did not separate yourself from this topic. You did not admonish the company you were with that initiated this killing of God’s child. And then more importantly, you began to agree with what was said and how it was said because you remember an occasion where the victim was unpleasant to you or when you witnessed the victim do something that you did not agree with. In this moment, you became a killer.

Had you known that there was an angel of God sitting right next to you recording what was said, perhaps you would have kept your mouth shut. Or better yet, perhaps you would have ignited a need for prayer for the victim whose character and misdoings were being judged and dissected right in front of you.

When the officer finished, you remained in awe as to how guilty his statements really made you look.

You were speechless. The officer flips the page and proceeds to recount the charges of your involvement in the attempted killings of the other victims he told you about earlier.

Are You A Killer Of God’s Children? – Chapter 1

tongue

“A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood.”

Proverbs 6:17

So a mean-looking officer of the Law knocks on your door bright and early at exactly 9am on a Sunday morning. You were (hopefully) on your way to church, and was caught off guard by the the thought of anyone being bold enough to come looking for you on a Sunday morning. But of course, you keep your ‘holy’ thoughts to yourself when you see the stern face of the officer with his badge, guns, and other law-enforcing tools.

The officer says good morning in the most polite way he can and proceeds to telling you the importance of the case at hand and why questioning could not wait till after church or even Monday. You have to answer all his questions. Agitated, and a little disturbed, you ask the officer what this was all about.

He says, “Sir/maam, you are wanted for the killing of victim A on so-and-so date at so-and-so time.”

Your face drops in horror at the mention of your alleged crime, then again at the name of who the victim was. While you gather your thoughts for a response, the officer continues reading from his official sheet of facts.

You are also wanted in the attempted killing of victims B, C, and D on so-and-so date at so-and-so time.

“This must be a big mistake, No. This is definitely a big mistake. I have never ever….I would never ever even consider killing anyone! I am a child of God! I could not kill another human being! I don’t know if this is a joke but I am no killer. Nor have I attempted to kill anyone!” says a frantic you.

Then the officer mandates that the matter is addressed inside your house in private. He would rather alert the neighbors with your screams of denial. And when you begin to take a second too long to consider his suggestion, he gives you a more terrifying thought, you can go with him to the station for questioning or go inside the comforts of your home to answer his questions.

So, you let him in.
