Stop Coping. Start Conquering!

conqueror

“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.”

Romans 8:37

Conqueror. A powerful word indeed.

Recently I discovered the beauty of many meanings contained in one single word.

One definition of Conqueror describes the word as one who overcomes and take control by force, as another meaning defines it as one who successfully rises above an obstacle of a sort. Another meaning furthermore explains a conqueror as one who ascends or mount something with success as if to climb a mountain!

So when the Word tells you and I that we are both conquerors through Christ our Savior, why do we choose not to believe it?!!! Why do we choose to cope instead?!

Growing up, we are told that coping with a dilemma or something more dire is something we must aim to practice because life as we know it is so unpredictable.

So, naturally, we evolve from our youth into adulthood thinking that coping with something is a must. We forget that we were first conquerors before the ills of this world and its flawed teachings molded us into ‘copers.’

I mean think about it, when you have trouble sleeping, the experts of our world convince you to cope with it with pills. When you are angry or overwhelmed in life, you have many coping mechanisms too. The crazy thing is, some people even believe that going to church falls under a way to ‘cope’!

Be honest, how much coping have you been doing or watching others do?

How much substances do we take into our bodies, minds, and spirits to just cope with the matters of our lives?

Ask yourself, “Did God not say that I was a conqueror?”

Did the resurrection of Christ not cement the victory against all suffering, discomfort, and pain?

Friend, YOU ARE A CONQUEROR in Jesus name! Stop accepting defeat! Stop fighting the fight with a coping mentality! Conquerors do not cope! They conquer!

Musician, Mali Music states it so profoundly in his song, Conqueror,

The enemy comes only to
Steal, kill, and destroy
And because we don’t know who and who’s we are
We come and let them steal our joy

Yes, its true, we all fall short
But, still that gives us no excuse
Soon the enemy is fighting you
Just tell him to prepare to lose
Cuz’ I’m…more than a conqueror

Because of God’s covenant with me
I’ll always have the victory…

I declare it with the resurrection power of Christ Jesus, against all the coping voices all around you and me, against the coping forces inside you and me, against the coping systems around you and me, that today we are reminded who we are in Jesus name. May we put on our full armor of God and be clothed fully in God’s strength to start conquering and stop coping today in Jesus name. May we also never again forget that we are more than conquerors through Christ who died and rose again. Amen.
