Sight Check – How Do You See?

“The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light.”

Matthew 6:22

I try to remember to look up or ahead when I am walking to see everything possible. When I drive, I can only look forward. I can only see what is before me. Limited as it is, I see. But it is not the full picture. In fact, the weather or time of the day all affect not what I see but how I see.

I gave that example to better reflect on how critical it is that we assess not just what we see, but first “how” we see the world before us.

As believers in a world that tends to try to separate itself from the Creator, there are dimensions that we are graced to perceive beyond this reality. Faith elevates how we see things and people and situations. Hope dissects how we see a worrisome situation. But for many of us, this is easier said than done.

Oh, the agony of wanting to believe when nothing looks worthy of our faith!

We want to believe the best in people. We want to hope for the best in life because of the goodness of God. We want to see the possibilities in a dire situation in a positive way. That is just what faith does – it affects and almost demands “how” you see the world.

But too often we forget.

Too often, we become distracted by the distortions of this world and its systems and cultures. We forget the “how” from time to time and focus on the what. Seeing becomes a matter of what we see rather than how we see what we see.

The how represents the perspective of our understanding and frame of seeing. The scripture above emphasizes the power of our sight not for what we see but for how we see it. It is referring to the frame in which we see through, that is beyond the physical eyes.

Just as we see different in the dark and in the sunlight, in light of Resurrection Sunday, the Spirit of God is reminding us that the health of our eyes depends on the source of our perspective.

Do you still seek the Lord for wisdom in ALL things?

Is your faith and your hope in God still backing up all the what you see? Or has the pressures and tribulations of this day and age gotten a hold of your sight?

The Lord wanted me to remind us today that it is time for a spiritual sight check.

CLICK TO READ MORE ABOUT VISION .

Especially in this marvelous week of Easter, in this season of death and Resurrection, we are called to examine the health of our eyes that is the lamp of our body.

Friend, may I ask that you consider how you see all that you see? How do you see your life? your money? your spouse or partner? your family? your church? your career? your worth? your purpose? and your being?

HOW do you see it all? With what lenses do you perceive the meaning of what you have been given to steward as a child of God?

As we seek the Lord for new understanding and seeing in new dimensions of faith and trials, I pray for you as I pray for me too. I pray that the Lord sends a divine breeze to cast away the blurriness before us and that the eyes of our understanding are enlightened in Jesus Name. Amen.

Vision – PART II

vision

“Then the LORD opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha…”

2 Kings 6:17

In 2 Kings chpt 6, we are introduced to a story where vision was needed to win the battle. And if we diligently ingest God’s Word, we would see all through the Bible that more often than not, vision is a necessary weapon to win.

In this particular instance, an enemy of the children of Isreal, sent armies to capture Elisha and his servant. When the servant got up in the morning, he was immediately filled with great fright and confusion, seeing that the horses and chariots of the enemy had surrounded the city.

The servant, even with eyes wide open, did not yet have the vision to see. His state of sight was affected by what he saw in the physical realm, which then disrupted his lack of awareness. In his state of sight, he stopped being aware of the All-knowing, All-powerful God.

Then a confident, faithful, prayerful Elisha said,

“Don’t be afraid…those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”

The servant saw but yet had no vision…

Until the Lord opened his eyes as prayed by Elisha. It was not until the Lord granted the servant vision. It was not until the Lord unveiled his spiritual sight to see that there was a mighty God, with an army of angels that surrounded them.

The location was the same. The day was the same. The circumstance was the same. But now, vision was present.

Friend I wonder today if you are filled with worry, uncertainty, confusion, anger, pain, or fear about what you see, rather than what you are supposed to envision.

I wonder if we were all born blind but with our eyes open. I wonder if God’s own perfect wisdom has been long awaiting our knowledge of what we physically see in front of us, to catch up with what the Lord knows is ahead of us.

Is it possible that you see, but lack vision?

How amazing would it be to envision the true glory and might of God as we make our way into our everyday battles of life? How confident would we also be to proclaim to others that the One who is with us, is so much greater than the one who is against us? That victory is already ours!

May God almighty renew our state of sight today, and empower us with the vision to see what only HE can show us as we walk in the full armor of HIM who created heaven and earth. May we now begin to walk, talk, and be in confidence in the might of our heavenly Father. May we now press on to what is ahead of us in complete faith in a God who has never and will never fail. May our state of sight be renewed an restored each new day in Jesus name. Amen.

Vision – PART I

And Elisha prayed, “Open his eyes, Lord, so that he may see.”

2 Kings 6:17

What a mighty God we serve.

In the last two weeks, there has been a shift in so many realms above me and all around me. Although temporary, I now have two jobs as well as new roles to fulfill in the House of God. I give God all the glory.

About two weeks ago, my brother, moved by the spirit suggested that all three of us, including my sister and I, should begin a virtual bible study session once a week. Since we are all in different states (time zone), we should find a time to talk about the word of God and how we are able to better apply it to our individual lives!

Thank God for a willing Spirit! My sister and I were more than happy to dive in. And so it began.

We began discussing the armor of God and how essential it is for us to take up that full armor each and every single day in order to remain prepared in position and alignment with the victory already granted to us.

The first session was so powerful that I felt compelled to share it here with everyone else.

Vision.

For many of us, the definition of vision stops at seeing. But because the wisdom of God is so much deeper than man’s most elevated understanding, the Spirit always tells you just a little bit more about a particular word.

Yes, vision often portrays sight. But within, vision also testifies to the state of what is being seen. Furthermore, vision extends to a state, that is commonly believed as imagination, but really is a state of sight into a realm above – the realm of the Most High God!

God please grant us vision!

When you look around you, what is your vision?

I am not asking you what you see, but rather, what your vision is.

Friend, do you yet understand the difference?

It’s Not What You See, It’s What God Shows You

clarity

“All things are full of labour; man cannot utter it: the eye is not satisfied with seeing, not the ear filled with hearing.”

Ecclesiastes 1:8

Not too long ago, I had a candid and abrupt conversation about Jesus with a co-worker of mine. She is on her way to converting to Islam, seeing as her partner of almost a year, is Islam as well. I recall that the conversation was initiated when she made a comment I had never ever, ever, heard in my life before.

She said,

I don’t believe that Jesus is God or in the trilogy of God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. I believe that Jesus was a highly-favored prophet like Abraham who was endowed with special powers to do the work of God.

She continued with conviction, “I don’t believe Jesus died. (I know…WHAAATTTTTT???!!!!) “I don’t believe Jesus died…I believe that God made it appear as though the person that was on the cross was Jesus. As in, the people who beat, hung, nailed, and killed Christ, only saw what God wanted them to see and believe. But Jesus did not die. He did go to heaven though the spirit and he is coming back.”

I thank God almighty for the wisdom and patience to keep my mouth shut and let the spirit speak in moments as confusing as these.

I was truly astounded. I was in awe. I was immobile for a few seconds, both out of shock and intrigue. She believed what she was saying to be the truth and she insists on her spirituality and how much she loved Jesus – but as a prophet.

Although the conversation progressed and I dug deeper into her perspective as to why she believed the creed she stated to me, one aspect of her reasoning that stood out to me, was the idea that God is the only One powerful enough to show us what we see.

Your eyes may be 20/20, but yet you do not see. We see what God reveals. We see by obeying the instructions of God, so we do not walk by sight alone.

Often times, we know that what we see is not what it appears to be. We are convicted by something within, that what is in front of us, is really not what is. Thank goodness for God’s spirit. Yet, we cannot ignore what is seen.

We see stars become idols when celebs are worshiped and praised for the most outrageous things. We see this, but we know that our world holds more than that. We know that there are masses of God’s children all over the world giving praise and honor to the One who it all belongs to.

We see injustice divide our nation more and more with news on cop brutality and government conspiracy. We see this, but we know that the problem is not skin color, but rather, hate and pride in the heart of man.

I wonder if you are at a place today where you are not convicted by sight alone. As stated above in scripture, your eyes nor ears are content with what you see and hear alone. You need more that sight to understand.

Friend, I dare you to ask the Lord your God to show you what you should see. I challenge you to seek clarity from the All-knowing God. Without clarity, we are sure to stumble. Without clarity, there is no spiritual discernment for what is God’s, and what only looks like God.

Our generation is starving for clarity and now more than ever is when we ought to cry out to the Lord, “Show us your glory Father!” “Open the eyes of our spirits Lord!”

It begins with me and you.

My prayer today is that the Eternal Rock of Ages, will dilute our reality with visions from up above. May God in His great omniscience, open the heavens and give us light in darkness to see beyond what is in front of us and prepare for what is ahead in Jesus name. Amen.
